About Sium Ahmed

Sium Ahmed serves as a Co-Principal Investigator at the Cell Genetics & Plant Biotechnology Laboratory, contributing significantly through his role as a Lecturer in the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering at Jahangirnagar University. He is a dedicated educator, researcher, and science communicator with a strong foundation in modern biotechnology.

Holding both BSc (Hon’s) and MS degrees in Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering from Jahangirnagar University (ranking 2nd and 1st respectively), Sium possesses a deep theoretical and practical understanding of the field. His prior experience as a Biosafety Officer and later Deputy Manager with the South Asia Biosafety Program (SABP/CIMMYT/AFSI) provided him with invaluable expertise in regulatory frameworks, safety assessment, and international standards for genetically engineered organisms – knowledge directly applicable to our lab’s commitment to responsible innovation.

His passion for Plant Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, and Biosafety aligns perfectly with the research themes pursued at the Cell Genetics & Plant Biotechnology Laboratory, strengthening our capacity for cutting-edge discovery and application.
